About Clem Enterprises

Faith, Honor, Trust, Fairness, Pride, and Determination are just a few words that will describe Bill Clem. In a world where doing things the easy way seem to be the norm, this is not the mold that Bill was cut out of. Growing up on a small farm in East Texas from 1942 thru 1965, Bill was surrounded by an environment where hard work was a way of life. To eat you worked in the garden, picked cotton by hand; raised chickens and cattle, and milk did not come in a gallon container but in a pail which was filled by milking a cow. He and his three brothers were raised by parents who suffered thru “The Great Depression” and passed on what it was like to work for everything you had and everything you will have. This, and faith in God, is the mold that formed Bill Clem in his personal and professional life.

Bill found that education was the way to achieve greater goals in life so after high school he charted a course to go as far as possible in the academic world. These desires lead to an Associates Degree from Tyler Junior College, and both a Bachelors and Master’s Degree from Sam Houston State University. Bill achieved these goals while being married and having two boys. How did he afford all of this, he worked nights as a radio dispatcher for the Texas Department of Corrections in Huntsville Texas and then with a couple hours of sleep took a full load of classes during the day. This is the definition of earning and not being given.

I’m telling you these details because it is important to understand the foundation of the man so you can see the strength and determination that has gone into building one of the best live cut Christmas Tree Distribution companies in the country. With 43 years of lawn and garden distribution experience, he has been as a buyer, and inventory control manager of multiple distribution warehouses as well as a branch manager. During these years, Christmas trees, greenery, and accessories were always a part of the Fall/Winter lineup. Fourth quarter sales for the lawn and garden industry are historically slow so this type of business allowed businesses the opportunity to finish out the year on a strong financial note. In all this, Bill learned from the best in order to become the best.

Christmas tree distribution is hard work requiring months of strategic planning, time in the field, working with new and existing customers, managing assets, and last but not least, multiple meetings with growers and our hardline partners. All these things were developed over many years. Relationship building and hands on experience were required in order to grasp the complexity of running a company like Clem Enterprises. Bill is one of those unique individuals who has a true passion and the knowledge, for this type of business and enjoys making his customers successful.

My name is Marcus Clem and I have been blessed with the good fortune to work alongside my dad for a number of years. I am the vice-president of Clem Enterprises and work every day to live and learn from one of the best in our industry. My passion and desire is to keep growing our company in the direction that was established by my father but with a few modern technologies that will be helpful to our customers and business partners.
